It’s Monday! What Are You Reading, is where we gather to share what we have read this past week and what we plan to read this week. It is a great way to network with other bloggers, see some wonderful blogs, and put new titles on your reading list. Hosted by Sheila at Book Journey.
My, what a week. If any of you are on Twitter, you may have noticed my rather depressing tweets over the last week. I lost my keys (and no, I have not found them yet). Then we found out a few weeks ago that there was a possibility my husband may have lung cancer. (I don't know if I've ever mentioned this before on my blog, but last year he was diagnosed with brain cancer and we had to deal with all the treatments and such while I was pregnant. Luckily, he is cancer free now. And yes, it was a shock, my husband is 25 years old.) But, the scan for lung cancer came back clean. Then, found out my car required $1,500 in repairs to get it running on natural gas again (which isn't totally vital, but at $.97 a gallon for gas, it's cheaper), ran out of gas on the freeway, and my grandfather passed away. So, I'm kind of feeling a little overwhelmed. But, I have very good friends, family, and an understanding employer. And, a lot of things happened last week that restored my faith in the goodness of mankind. I'm going to make it just fine.
Now, with that out of the way, here's what happened with reading last week.

Aww Emily, here's a big hug for you! It's been a crazy and trying week for you. I can't imagine that your husband was diagnosed with brain cancer and he's only 25. I'm 25 as well and it must have been quite scary. I really hope you're feeling better now. I hope books have comforted you because you have some pretty good ones in your list.

ReplyDeleteWow! Major *hugs* to you - that is an insanely tough week, I"m surprised (but happy) that you're still posting. I'm excited for your review of Claire de Lune, I've heard mixed things about it and would be interested on your take.
ReplyDeleteTake care of yourself - you and your family are in our thoughts.
I know a little how you feel-not the same, of course-but when we were 25 my husband had ALL(acute lymphoblastic leukemia). He recovered after a bone marrow transplant, and while we were waiting for the transplant one of our best friends died in a car accident. We also had a lot of fertility issues, and life was pretty crazy and hectic for awhile.
ReplyDeleteI am beyond relived for you that your husband's scan came back clean, but I am sure the scare of cancer's return was very draining.
Well, I realize that I am rambling, but I wanted to let you know that you are not alone, that not everyone can relate to it, but maybe some can a little.
Here's hoping things slow down you and your family!
I have always wanted to read Shiver. I hope you enjoy Linger.

ReplyDeleteSorry about all the sadness. I'm glad the hubby is ok. Good with everything! I'm reading some good stuff this week. Almost done with Johnny Tremain. It's pretty good for historical fiction.
