Yesterday I went to see Lissa Price at the Barnes in Noble in West Jordan. I carpooled up with Enna Isilee of Squeaky Books. Because, well, she wanted to go, but didn’t want to drive, and I didn’t want to go up alone. Match made in heaven.
We arrived a little bit early, so headed over to the young adult section to judge books by their covers. We told some poor woman who loved the City of Bones series that we didn’t like them. Then, this sweet woman with her daughter were looking at Under the Never Sky by Veronica Rossi. I said that I didn’t really care for the book (my review), to which Enna Isilee said that she loved it (her review). The woman asked for a recommendation of a great science fiction novel for her daughter.
We recommended Partials by Dan Wells, and a couple other titles. Then we realized. Hey! Starters is a science fiction novel, and it was really good. Plus, the author is here RIGHT NOW to do a signing.
So, that is the story of how Enna and I sold a book to a girl and her mother in the aisle at Barnes and Noble. If you guys are reading this, then hi! thanks for stopping by.
I was a little disappointed that there wasn’t a reading or some kind of Q&A before the signing, because I definitely wanted to have a discussion about the book. But, either way, I did get my book signed. And, I met the lovely Lissa Price. I got some swag, which was AWESOME. I’m going to put one of the pieces in my giveaway, because it’s just too awesome not to share.
pst! If you haven’t read my review of Starters, it’s right here.
