Guess the Covers Winter 2016 Giveaway

Guess the Covers Winter 2016..

A long time ago, my good blogger friend, Enna Isilee did a fun game where she would have people guess the covers of upcoming novels and win a pre-order. I got nostalgic and wanted to create one of my own! Here’s how to play:   I have an image with 16 titles that are being released in 2016 (or maybe late, late, late 2015). I’ve taken a piece of the cover and you have to guess which one it is by filling out the google doc embedded below. You only have to get the title of the book correctly. So, you can add the author, but it isn’t necessary. Don’t spoil the covers in the comments, do your best to work quickly! You can only submit the form once, so […]

5 Required Reads that Don’t Suck

5 Required Reads that Don..

Going into an undergraduate English program, I wasn’t sure what to expect. I got a pretty heavy dose of reality when, during my first semester, I was in a class of freshman students (all about 10 years younger than me) just out of their AP English classes. Turns out, I was completely behind in the “required reading” category, and I didn’t have a clue how to analyze a text. Seriously, I was supposed to remember how to close read a poem when the last time I did that was in 9th grade, almost 15 years ago. But, after my initial shock, I started to get into a reading groove, and I found quite a few gems that either I’d missed during my high school reading years, or books that I […]

Abigail’s Picture Book Picks: August 2015

Abigail’s Picture Book..

Abigail’s Picture Book Picks is an infrequent feature I do to introduce some of the books Abigail is reading and loving. Here are some of the books Abigail recommends.   Abigail says: I like this book because it tells you what happens before and what happens after. I like it that it doesn’t have any words, because then you just get to describe what is happening. Emily says: This is one of our favorite books to read together. The illustrations are amazing, and we have fun making up stories to go along with each scene. Abigail says: I like this book because it’s about cupcakes. The funniest part is where the dog gets frosting ALL OVER ITS FACE. I can read this book by myself. And I also like that they make cupcakes […]
